Mail from Jesus

Rosemary picked up the letter from the floor that had come through her mailbox. She checked to see who had sent the letter, but there was no name or address written on it, and the stamp also happened to be missing. Only her name and address were to be found written on the envelope. "It's probably an advertisement," she sighed. Full of curiosity, she opened the letter; this is what she read:

Dear Rosemary, on Saturday afternoon I will be close by to you and would like to see you, love       Jesus

Her hands were trembling as she put the letter down. "Why does the Lord want to visit me today? I'm not a very important person and I haven't got anything that I could give to Him." She thought about her empty kitchen cupboard. "I'll have to quickly go shopping." She fetched her purse and looked inside; she counted a total of 10 dollars and 24 pence - that was all she still had, and that was supposed to last until the end of the month. "I'll have to quickly go and buy some fresh bread, butter and milk, and with the rest I'll get some meat. She hurriedly put her jacket on and ran out of her apartment. The supermarket was situated about two streets away. When she finished shopping, she had 5 cents left over to last until Monday. She was deep in thought as she walked across the parking lot, when suddenly a man who was accompanied by a woman spoke to her. The clothes which they wore appeared to be the only ones that they possessed.

"Dear lady, could you help us please? Both of us haven't had anything to eat in the last three days. We would be very grateful if you would help us in some way." "I would like to help you but I'm also a poor woman myself; and the things that I've just bought are for an important guest who is going to be visiting me this afternoon, " Rosemary replied. "Yes, I understand," the stranger said to her in a friendly tone, he then turned around and slowly walked on with the woman. Rosemary felt sorry for both of them, "Hello, wait a minute," she cried out and then proceeded to hand them her small bag of shopping. "I'm sure that something else will work out," she said. "Thank you very much, you have been so kind to us," the elderly lady responded. Rosemary saw that this lady was shivering with cold. Rosemary's heart softened again and she said to her, "You're freezing cold, aren't you? Take my jacket, I've got another one at home." "Thank you very much for your kind help."

Rosemary returned home without any food and without a jacket. She was frozen stiff when she arrived back at her apartment and then she began to worry. Upon looking down on the floor by the front door, she discovered a letter that had previously been dropped through the mailbox. "What's that? Did the postman call again? He must have forgotten something," she thought to herself. She bent down to pick it up and opened it; this is what she read:

Dear Rosemary, I was very happy to see you. Thanks for the good food and also thanks for the lovely jacket that you gave to me. I'll always love you, love        Jesus.
