Why should we be filled with the Holy Ghost in these last days?

This is a very complex subject and this small Bible study does not claim to cover all aspects and to give all the answers. Let us examine a few important points and then be filled, stay filled, hold on and go forward in Jesus name...

Without the Holy Ghost we don't belong to Him: For those who do not have the Holy Ghost: Don't worry! When you have not yet received the Holy Ghost, but are reaching out to Him and you do the will of God, then this will soon change, you will be filled. For all the others, the Bible tells us in Romans 8:9b : Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.

The Bridegroom Jesus Christ is coming soon: Who does not know it yet - we are living in the last days. Who does not believe it, will find out too late. In any case, the wise virgins are ready; they have enough Holy Ghost and they stay renewed in the Spirit of God. Matthew 25:1ff

The Holy Ghost gives us strength to overcome in this heavy spiritual battle that we are in: The devil and his angels know that they have not much time left. He wants your soul, and without the power of the Holy Ghost, you cannot withstand. The battle grows more fierce, as his time shortens up. Revelation 12,12b

The Holy Ghost protects you from the deceiver: Satan uses religion, self-deception and blindness. Jesus warns us and gives us examples. Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (see also Matthew 24:4ff)

There is work to be done: The Holy Ghost is a gift and undeserved grace. It gives us strength and makes us to be His witnesses. Around us is a lost world, on their way to hell; every Holy Ghost filled Christian has the responsibility and commission to be a witness for Jesus Christ. Wherever you are, beginning in Jerusalem (at home) in Samaria (your neighbourhood and work place) and then to go, wherever the Holy Ghost leads you. For lazy servants there is no promise. Acts 1:8

Without the Holy Ghost you cannot live as a Christian: The Bible says that no man except the Holy Ghost can tame the tongue. (James 3:5) Without the Holy Ghost we cannot bring forth fruit. (Galatians 5:17) To be a true worshipper, you need the truth and the Holy Ghost. (John 4:23) The Holy Ghost gives you strength in prayer and under girds you and intercedes for you. Jesus tells all of us, “ ...for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5b)

Count the costs: We must be sealed with the Holy Ghost. The spirit of this world will mark the world with its seal, but when we have the seal of God, which is the Holy Ghost, the Lord Jesus will rapture us and take us out of this wrong world, before He brings judgment because of their wickedness. God loves us and doesn't want that we be lost, but now we must choose for ourselves, one Lord. You will obey only one, either, Jesus Christ or the power that is ruling this world. (Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:13)

The Bible says: "Be filled with the Holy Ghost." This is not an option, but a commandment. The Lord, the ruler of the heaven and the earth sets the measurement; everyone will reap what they sow - to the spirit or to the flesh. Galatians 6:7-8

We have only this short life, and then there is one eternity. It pays off to make an estimate of the cost. And something else: He who is filled with the Holy Ghost, has a good life, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, victory in Jesus Christ against all powers of darkness and a blessed life under God's protection. But don't forget, the best is yet to come: We are on our way to heaven!!! ct
