Where is your way leading you to?

In our present day, in which people are seeking for spiritual fulfilment in every direction possible, it is important not to lose your orientation. There is only One who can offer spiritual fulfilment, and that is through the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ! It is not in vain that it is named in the Bible as being the “Spirit of truth” (John 16:13).

Thomas, the disciple of Jesus, wanted to know about this way leading to the heavenly Father and he asked Jesus about it. Jesus gives Thomas the answer and says to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by me.”
This reference and this WORD is not only for Thomas, but also for us. Without Jesus Christ we cannot do anything and neither can we achieve anything! We see this in the fifteenth chapter of John, where he says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Talking on this terms, the Word of God could be compared to a plumb line or a guiding principle, which shows the exact values and principles which we should stick to.

It is foolish and a waste of time to seek in a direction of something which is false, and which just leads deeper and deeper into error; and yet many people are making it difficult for themselves to believe the truth and the words of Jesus, and remain prisoners.

Through occult practises and even religious ceremonies, many people are trying to cross over the border of the invisible world, hoping that they will find fulfilment in this spiritual world. However, instead of receiving liberty and fulfilment , they will end up being prisoners of those who are ruling them. Therefore, already at that time, God warned His people very clearly to keep away from such practises, which have nothing to do with His guidelines, the Word of God.

I will give an example. During the time when the Jews were still slaves of the Egyptians, they were surrounded by sorcery and the occult practices of the priests, who served their Egyptian gods with all types of ceremonies. (Exodus 7:10-12). As a result, the Egyptians were prisoners in their own homes, and they died with a false picture of God, life, and eternity in their hearts and minds.

They were so bound in their tradition and religion, that not even the signs and wonders which God worked through Moses, moved them to give up their ways and idols.

If a person gets deeply involved with this practices, which are not to be found in God’s Word, he will become a captive of them. The more he gets involved, the more difficult it will be for him to escape. However, it is not impossible for God to set such a person free. When this person is converted to God and does exactly what God’s Word tells him, God will work out things which the person himself is unable to do.

God speaks these wonderful words to Israel!
Exodus 20:3-6 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

On that particular day, God handed over His guiding principles of truth to Israel; which would be a blessing for them, their offspring, and all those who keep His commandments. We also have the same one God, who is God alone, and who cannot be divided up; and one day we will have to stand before Him without sin in our lives.

John 5:39-40 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come me, that ye might have life.

If you would like to know about this, then write to us. rw
