Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Theme: Without him - not anything was made –

Both Moses, as well as John, gave an account about the beginning of the creation, without contradicting one another. Moses presents the picture of it, John shows how creation came about: Through the WORD of God.

John writes that all things came into existence by the same WORD, which went forth from God. Where there was nothing beforehand, all at once came into existence, just as God had planned and had spoken. God does that by His Word, through which everything has come into existence.

That which a person develops and builds, passes away with time; but like Solomon said, “Whatsoever, God doeth, it shall be forever.” ( see Ecclesiastes 3:14) This “doing,” in terms of “coming into existence”, only comes about through HIS WORD.

John writes in John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” Jesus is the WORD of God, manifest in the flesh; and Paul writes in 1 Timothy 3:16, “ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh...” Not another God, for there is only One God: Jesus is His name!

When Jesus healed the people, stilled the storms, and worked miracles, HE did it by HIS WORD, through which He also created the world and the universe. God works through His Word – and He still does, even today! - , and not through worldly tradition. Salvation and deliverance only take place through the Word of God, God Himself is the Word. It is important that the preaching comprises of His Word; otherwise, NOTHING will come about and everything will remain in darkness. rw
