The Promise of the Holy Spirit

Ever since the beginning of the world, it was in God’s mind for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Through symbols and prophecies, God shows how and when the infilling of the Holy Spirit would take place; and also what would happen when this wonderful Spirit has come - His signs, His work in the people through HIM. It is no surprise that Paul wrote to the Christians: “…Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27), and “We are His work.” To tell the people that “the baptism of the Holy Spirit was only for the apostles or the church at that time” and that “there is no longer any such thing now”, does not correspond to the commandments of Jesus to His apostles and His Church (Acts 2:38-39).

If the Holy Scriptures are no longer the thing to go by for a “church” of the present day, which calls itself a “church”, then their work and all their efforts are for nothing. Jesus refers to this in Revelation 3:17-18, “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see.” This was referring to the blind church in Laodicea. From a worldly point of view, they were rich and well-known, however in Jesus’ eyes they were not ready to enter into His eternal kingdom in their present state.

In spite of everything, thousands and thousands of people are daily receiving the promised baptism of the Holy Spirit, because they believe more in the words of Jesus than they do in the people who want to deceive them. They speak in other tongues just like in the Book of Acts (Acts 2:4; 10:44-48; 19:2-7 etc.). They are baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). The return of Jesus for His church is very close at hand (Matthew 24:37-44) You should also become a part of His living church and receive the promise of His Spirit and forgiveness of sins through water baptism in the name of Jesus. rw
