Whoever loses it, wins something
better!
That sounds rather contradictory does it not:" Whoever loses it,
wins something better?" Who enjoys losing something? What does
it mean? Jesus shows us: "Whosoever will lose his life for
my sake shall find it." Matthew 16,25. How can a person lose
his life for Jesus Christ? Should he kill himself for Jesus? What was
Jesus referring to when he said these words?
Each one of us has been given a life. We live it the way we want to
and plan as according to what we think is best. In this life which is
fashioned by our will we face both good and evil. One day, however,
we will have to take the path which many people before us have already
gone, death meet us head-on. Relentless and merciless, it seems that
death fears no one. Death does not take our plans and our opinions into
consideration, it comes, moving in when it wants and we as humans stand
there powerless and helpless to do anything about it. The life which
we received and dearly want to hold on to has to yield to death's power.
The preacher writes: "There is no man that hath power over
the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of
death." Ecc. 8,8 Death is the door to eternity. Death is the
end of physical body but not the end of soul and spirit (Luke 16,22-24).
After death there is the judgment (Hebrews 9,27). Death portrays the
image of being great and mighty, having no enemies to resist and defeat
it. Jesus Christ is the eternal life, death could not hinder him. Jesus
of Nazareth is able to raise the dead (Luke 7,22; 8,53-56). With people
it was only a question of hours until death swallowed them up, we see
how Jesus Christ steps in and even death has to give way. Death has
no power over the spirit of Jesus!
Jesus promises eternal life to those who do his will (Acts 5,32). Give
your own life to Jesus Christ; your plans, do it now so long as there
is still time. Ask Jesus Christ daily to lead you. In order to receive
this eternal life you have to be baptized like it says in the Bible,
in water in the name of Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2,38).
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever
will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Matthew 10,39
