How is it going to go on? |
Many people are unsure about what their future
is going to be. Some go to fortunetellers and to those who read
cards and ask them about their future. They believe that they
will receive the right answer to their question.
As a Christian, I know who determines and holds my present and
my future in the hand. For HE says in John 10:27: "My
sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and
I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
The
disciples went with Jesus to the temple at Jerusalem. They were
amazed about the large stones of the temple place; from the
outside it looked like an unconquerable fortress. Only Jesus
stayed quiet and did not share the enthusiasm of the disciples,
but rather said, "...there shall not be left one stone
upon another, that shall not be thrown down." Mark 13:2.
Jesus did not speculate or make assumptions, he hopes and does
not doubt. He knows for certain what he is talking about. What
he says is the truth!
40 years later, the legions of Rome march in and stand in front
of these walls, they occupy Jerusalem and destroy both the city
as well as the temple. That which nobody believed would happen,
happened. Jesus saw it all ahead of time.
God's Word is the truth! Every prophesy which is not fulfilled
will be fulfilled. Also, the future of the nations is recorded
in the Word of God. The future of those who love God and are
obedient to Him is revealed in His Word, also of those who reject
HIM.
Paul writes to the church and says that we have become God's
people and possession. How? Through our obedience to His Word
and the gospel of Jesus. I am a living building stone as part
of the temple of God, a temple which can not be destroyed. Jesus
has conquered the fear about the present and the future in my
life, for He has become my God and savior. Is He your God and
savior too? rw
