Your time has come

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. The gospel of Luke 19:41-42

Jesus Christ, the Lord, God, and Saviour of the world and the Jewish people, is standing in front of the gates of His beloved city, in order to bless her and to rule there.

The old prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 about 520 years B.C (before Christ), is being fulfilled right before them and they did not even realise that their time had come.( Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.)

His disciples and the people who were with Him shouted for joy, but they never would have believed that Jerusalem would crucify their Saviour later on. Zechariah also prophecied this ahead of time when he spoke about the one who was “pierced” in the book of Zechariah 12:10.

Jesus looked at Jerusalem, seeing how busy it was with their work, with their politics, with their church tradition and that they had no time for Him. As a result, they missed out on the blessing which He wanted to give them. What a sad moment. The disciples are rejoicing, and suddenly, Jesus begins to weep about a people who had not prepared themselves and who had no time for HIM.

Did they not hear the message from John the Baptist? Did he not preach in the power of the Holy Spirit, that now was the time to repent and there would be no time later on to do so? You could cry out aloud: Jerusalem wake up; but now it is too late, they did not do anything whilst they still had time Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

When the wicked city Nineveh heard the preaching of Jonah, they turned away from their evil; for they understood the message of the prophet. They realised that there is not much time left for us. They were obedient to the voice of God and God spared them. With Jerusalem it was a different story, for she did not repent. Years later her temple and her city were lying in rubble and ashes again. Why? Could not God have protected her? Of course! What a question. The problem was not with God, and the same applies in our day and age; but rather it had to do with their wickedness, which people do not want to turn away from.

We going to live for today and who knows what will be tomorrow? However, there happens to be a God, and He is the same One who held out His hand of grace towards Israel. We plan so much, however, is God in our plans, or better still, are we in God ‘s plan? Our country is so busy. Nevertheless, God is crying out to every individual in our country, speaking through His written Word and His preachers whom He has sent: Your time has come!

It is a time to be healed, to be saved, to be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” )

There is still time for you to start walking on the narrow way of God and to leave the broad way of the world. Now is not the time to win your life, but rather to lose it and to receive the life which Jesus is offering. Your time has come! If you follow His call, He will not disappoint you. Pray to Him now, talk to Him and call upon His name. Are you aware that your time has come? rw
