YHWH

There are many things in life which have a name. Some of these things are important, others on the other hand are not so important. What counts is that you know HIS name.

There are numerous things in life which a person faces, a lot of them will be forgotten. One thing, however, that you should never forget and that is His name.

The great man of God, Moses, asked HIM by the burning bush what HIS name is. He wanted to know it, should the occasion arise that he actually would be freeing the people of God, Israel, from captivity – using signs and wonders which are performed in HIS name. God revealed HIS eternal name to Moses for the first time.

Exodus 3:13-15: "And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fahers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM. And he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD* God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." **
(*In the Hebrew context you find the tetragrammaton YHWH in this place of scripture.)

d Testament we know that in the place where “LORD” is found his holy name should be inserted, for LORD is not a name but merely a title. If God’s eternal name had now been revealed to Moses and he had proclaimed it, this means that only through him did the people of Israel know and learn his eternal name.

Is there a nation that has a God and yet does not know his name? Even among the heathen there is no such thing. The great multitude of idols in Africa and Asia all bear a name. Is it possible that the God who made heaven and earth does not possess a name, although He has revealed it? The Jews today have forgotten his name and 99% of the present-day Christianity do not know the name of “their” God, even though it is constantly to be found in the New Testament. That's strange, isn’t it? His name is the name which every true believer can, and was able to call upon from generation to generation.

If He is the God of the Hebrews then He also bears a Hebrew name and this happens to be YEHOSHUAH, which in English is JESUS. In John 5:43 Jesus teaches and says, I am come in my father’s name, and ye receive me not.

Paul a strict-believing Jew called upon the God of the Hebrews and asked, "Who art Thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest." Acts 9:5      (rw)

JESUS

(**The word "Jehovah" used in some Bible translations is a misunderstanding that derived during the time of the dark ages. The Jews wrote only the consonants YHWH, knowing that this is the name of God, they didn't want anybody to blasphem it and so that when they read the scriptures, there, were the
tetragrammaton YHWH is, they would read Adonai or Elohim. Gods eternal name is Yehoshuah <engl. Jesus>. Later In Jeremiah 44:26-27 God had promised that His name shall "...no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah...".)
